This was my first mashup ever written. Let me tell you writing mashups is HARD! I wanted to make a mashup that felt upbeat and something to get you get up and dance. Thankfully I remembered a song I listened to as a kid and used that as a backtrack (Coco Jambo). I tried to fit as many happy, feel good songs as possible with a couple exceptions. Overall this turned out better than I expected and had so much fun recording! The reason I chose this kind of song is because one of my favorite kind of music is the kind that makes you can't help yourselves but to stand up and dance! Be it Pop, Calypso, anything!

I’m just a guy who wanted to have fun with a group of friends to making awesome collabs. So that’s exactly what I did. I enjoyed my time in this competition; working with talented individuals to create magic.
My final entry represents the kind of person I am and how I feel about this competition and everybody I worked with/competed against 😎 |
*Insert Wayne’s World fanfare* SCHWING! Hey everyone I’m Parker and welcome to Parker’s world! In this segment of the show I’m going to be telling you a little bit about me and what I like to do! First off I’m an avid Disney FANATIC (some say lunatic but we just ignore them shhhh.) I am a lover of all things sweet! Candy, cookies, ice cream, oh my! I also consider myself to be the female version of BATMAN! Parker the dental assistant by day and Parker the party princess by night! FLASH THE PRINCESS SIGNAL ALFRED! If you can’t tell by now I’m kind of a geek and I love it! Ever since I was little my mom and dad have always taught me to be proud of who I am and what I stand for. To never compromise who I am because of someone else. That every time life comes and kicks you in the face, you get up and kick it back harder. That said, Disney has always been a platform that places emphasis on the fact that your “flaws” are what make you, you. What make you special! What make you BEAUTIFUL! With my final showstopper I wanted to focus on the fact that everyone’s diversity makes them beautiful. No one should feel that they aren’t valued or loved because they don’t fit the so called mold! I’ve been going on a real self love journey lately and I have learned so much about myself. I can only hope that my entry helps to bring others the same feeling of self love that I’ve discovered! We all are one in a million!💕 That’s all for this weeks show! Party on Wayne! Party on Garth! *EPIC GUITAR SOLO* 🎸

Hello! I'm Kate. For those of you who don't know me, singing and voice acting are just two of my passions. I’m an avid home cook, a lover of all things food/drink, a travel fanatic, and a connoisseur of Nigel Thornberry gifs. My favorite Disney characters are Pooh Bear, Donald Duck, Ariel, and Tiana. Tiana and Evangeline (the Evening Star) were the inspiration for my finale showstopper. Wishing on the evening star is such a strong theme in the world of Disney, but Tiana was the first to directly turn it on its head to suggest that we’ve also got to put in our own work for our wishes and our dreams to come true. This was my first mashup so I’m sure it’s got plenty of room for improvement, but I really wanted to give it my all - put in my work - to give you my best, tell a story, and show that I’m willing to learn new skills and challenge myself.

Honestly, going into this final round here, I was stressing about what to do and how to do it. I knew I wanted to do something more or less creative and unexpected, but like, what? I wracked my brain about any unexpected Disney movies with songs in it, and remembered my absolute awe of the mermaids in Pirates of the Caribbean 4. Long story short, here I am with 6 minutes of whatever my entry is (count your lucky stars guys, it was almost 10). Not to be the person that listens to their own entry, but honestly every single time I listen to my entry I just think about all the fun I had making all the sound effects, and figuring out that my little alto self had those high notes in me (also the pain I put my family through trying to warm up enough to hit them). I definitely spent a huge time making a mess, smashing full glass bottles together and spilling water all over my carpet, splashing around and experimenting with dropping different things in the water to make the right splashy sound effect (wet cloth, guys). Honestly, I’m so glad I got the opportunity to even attempt this, cause it definitely made a splash (ha, dad joke) in my otherwise boring week. Thanks all!

Brian. Usually the “old man” in any of the groups I’m in. But we can be lovers and singers of Disney at any age (56 for me). I started singing in choirs since grade school. My Jr. high vocal music instructor had us sing some barbershop chorus songs, many of the “standards” and even taught my twin brother and I a clogging routine to one of the songs performed by the Dapper Dans! (His friend, Ron Brown was a Dapper Dan at the time). What a dream come true, to learn some of their routines from an actual Dapper Dan! Smule has been a great way to get my singing fix in and to connect with so many talented people, like in this friendly competition! I’ve made so many friends through this App, and have even gone on a few group meet-ups! I am so happy to be considered with such elite performers in this competition! Thank you, DE and judges for your past and present arduous work of picking the creme de la creme. I think everyone here is a winner!
I wanted to capture the feel of walking down Main Street USA Disneyland with the sounds of the Dapper Dans performing their barbershop quartet routine. I remember being in awe of their energy and excitement as a kid which made my visits to Disneyland even more fun! |
I had so so much fun working with my group! I think that making this years competition a group challenge was a great opportunity to get closer to other great and talented people! Growing up the the jazzier Disney songs had always been my favorite and it wasn’t till about 5 years ago that I realized jazz was an entire genre! Since then I have fallen in love with the jazz sound, style, and culture! So naturally making a jazz mashup was the way I wanted to go. This was my first mashup, and though I am happy with the outcome I wish I had been able to take my time with it. Being out of town this whole last week and constantly surrounded by people made it really hard to sing and spend time on, but I managed! And for my first go, I’m pretty proud! I did have a lot of fun with it though! And got the opportunity to put all my vocal jazz skills to the test! I really learned a lot and this proved my theory that Smule is one of the greatest singing tools.
